BABYMONSTER Honored with 'Rookie of the Year' at Circle Chart Awards

YG's new girl group, BABYMONSTER, has once again proven their extraordinary potential by clinching their first Rookie of the Year trophy with their debut song, which had the highest global streaming among last year's debut songs.

On January 10th, BABYMONSTER won the 'Rookie of the Year Global Streaming' category at the 'Circle Chart Music Awards 2023' held in BEXCO, Busan. This award is given to the artist who records the highest global streaming within 30 days after their debut and first music release, from December 2022 to November 2023.

In fact, BABYMONSTER’s 'BATTER UP' surpassed 10 million streams at the fastest rate among K-pop girl group debut songs on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, and continued its rising trend, exceeding 40 million plays on January 8th. Their monthly listeners reach about 4.7 million.

Moreover, upon release, the song dominated the iTunes cumulative song charts in 21 countries, reaching the top of the Worldwide Chart. Within just 8 days of its release, the song secured its place in the Billboard Global 200 (101st) and Billboard Global (49th) charts, underscoring their popularity in the mainstream pop market.

Their music video also received a fiery response. After breaking the record for the most views in 24 hours for a K-pop debut song, it reached 50 million views (in 4 days), and 100 million views (in 18 days), setting a new record for the fastest K-pop group debut song to achieve these milestones. Currently nearing 200 million views, they have firmly established themselves as the 'next generation YouTube queens,' with their official channel surpassing 4 million subscribers.

BABYMONSTER will release their second single 'Stuck In The Middle' on February 1st. YG commented that it is "a song in a new genre that allows full focus on the members’ outstanding vocal skills and unique timbres." The song is expected to present a contrast to the original hip-hop mood of their debut song 'BATTER UP'. Additionally, they are also planning to release their first mini-album in April.
