YG Entertainment Sets Out to Discover K-Pop Stars… Global Audition in 17 Cities Across 10 Countries
YG Entertainment is set to discover the next generation of K-pop stars through a large-scale global audition. YG Entertainment announced on March 8 that the “2024 YG Global Audition” will be held from April to December. As the global audition enters its third consecutive year, YG plans to expand the scope of host cities further due to the increasing number of participants each year.
Starting in Toronto, Canada, on April 27, the auditions will be held in Washington D.C., New Jersey, New York, Hawaii in May; Sydney, Brisbane in Australia, and Auckland in New Zealand in June; Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in July; LA, Seattle in the USA in August; Thailand, Manila in the Philippines, Jakarta in Indonesia in November; and Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam in December, covering 17 cities across 10 countries. The auditions in Thailand will be conducted in collaboration with YGMM, and in Japan, a joint audition is being carried out separately with Avex.
The auditions are open to youths born between 2006 and 2013, regardless of gender or nationality. Participants can choose to showcase their talents in singing, rapping, dancing, or visuals.
Applications can be made both in advance and on-site. Pre-registrations can be done through the YG Entertainment audition website, which is linked via a QR code on the poster. On-site registrations will be conducted on the day of the audition.
YG Entertainment has been at the forefront of the global K-pop craze, launching a wide array of artists who have achieved worldwide success, including BIGBANG, BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON, TREASURE, and most recently, BABYMONSTER. With the news of YG Entertainment’s global auditions, there is an anticipation of active participation from undiscovered talents with immense potential in K-pop.
