BABYMONSTER Enters Spotify Global Chart at Historic 69th Place, Setting the Record for K-Pop Girl Groups This Year

YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER has proven their global popularity with their official debut song ‘SHEESH’ entering the Spotify Daily Top Songs Chart. According to Spotify’s data on April 2, ‘SHEESH’, the title track from BABYMONSTER’s first mini album, debuted with approximately 1.76 million streams, landing at 69th place on the Daily Top Songs Global Chart on its release day. This marks the highest entry for a K-pop girl group song released this year, also securing the 33rd spot on the Korean Top Songs Chart.

Spotify is the world’s largest music streaming platform. The addition of AHYEON to the now seven-member complete lineup of BABYMONSTER has not only solidified their fanbase through their overwhelming vocal and rap abilities but has also heightened expectations for the group’s music world.

What’s particularly notable is the steep upward trajectory of ‘SHEESH’, compared to their previous releases. Previously, BABYMONSTER had set a new milestone in K-pop by reaching 10 million streams with ‘BATTER UP’ in just 10 days. The streaming count for ‘SHEESH’ is increasing at a significantly higher rate, raising expectations for future performance.

BABYMONSTER released their first mini album [BABYMONS7ER] on April 1st at midnight. The album quickly reached the top ranks of the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart, and in China, both the title track ‘SHEESH’ and other songs from the album ranked high on QQ Music’s ‘Rising Chart’ and ‘Trend Index Chart’. The music video’s YouTube views also surpassed 40 million.

With this album as their launchpad, BABYMONSTER is set to actively engage as a complete seven-member group. Starting with an appearance on SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’ on April 7th, they will connect with fans through various contents and fan signing events. They will also expand their global reach with a fan meeting tour in five Asian cities including Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, Taipei, and Bangkok, as well as performing at Japan’s largest music festival ‘Summer Sonic 2024’.
