BABYMONSTER Dominates Their First ‘Summer Sonic’ Performance, Takes Over Japan
YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER has successfully conquered their debut ‘Summer Sonic’ stage.
BABYMONSTER completed a spectacular performance at the ‘Summer Sonic 2024’ Mountain Stage, held at the Zozo Marine Stadium & Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan on August 18th. ‘Summer Sonic’ is Japan’s largest urban music festival, featuring top local artists as well as globally renowned musicians.
The venue was packed with fans eager to see BABYMONSTER. Following the performance, online reviews flooded in, and a ‘Water’ challenge initiated by the global sensation TYLA brought further attention to their collaborative challenge videos and related posts, underscoring their powerful global popularity.
Opening with a bang with “SHEESH,” BABYMONSTER then elevated the festival vibe with “BATTER UP,” followed by “STUCK IN THE MIDDLE” and “LIKE THAT,” and showcased their diverse charms with YG’s signature summer song “FOREVER.”
Their stage presence and perfect live performances, unexpected for newcomers, were particularly impressive. The members freely moved across the stage, making eye contact with the audience and reaffirming their presence as “monster rookies.” The audience reciprocated with enthusiastic sing-alongs, further heating up the atmosphere.
After powering through a total of eight songs in about 40 minutes, BABYMONSTER said, “We are happy because you enjoyed it.” They continued, “We are thankful and happy to show you a live performance on such a fantastic stage,” sharing their heartfelt emotions.
In other news, BABYMONSTER released the Japanese version of their pre-debut song ‘BATTER UP’ on August 16th. As ‘BATTER UP’ had already resonated well with music fans due to YG’s unique hip-hop energy, the Japanese version also entered the upper ranks of various local music charts, receiving a positive response.
