BABYMONSTER Conquers China Too! QQ Music’s ‘DRIP’ Tops the Charts
YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER continues to ride a wave of popularity fueled by explosive reactions from fans in the Chinese-speaking regions.
According to YG Entertainment, on November 13, BABYMONSTER topped the K-pop Weekly Chart on China’s largest music streaming site, QQ Music (from November 1 to November 7, 2024), with their debut full album ‘DRIP’. The double title tracks ‘DRIP’ and ‘CLIK CLAK’ ranked first and third respectively, with all new tracks securing top spots on the charts.
‘DRIP’ also dominated various major QQ Music charts, capturing the top ranks in trending, popularity, and new song categories, and has maintained its position on the MV chart for thirteen consecutive days. The album tracks have received widespread love, reflecting the unique interest and high expectations of local fans towards their musical world.
The group enjoys broad popularity among global music fans as well. ‘DRIP’ entered the Billboard 200 in the United States at position 149 and achieved personal bests by reaching 16th on the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) and 30th on the Billboard Global 200.
Album sales are also noteworthy. The first full album [DRIP] has sold a total of 677,961 copies, achieving a career high, and recorded an order volume of 820,000 copies within a week, nearly doubling the figures from the previous release.
Riding this momentum, BABYMONSTER is set to ignite their popularity further across various platforms including music shows, variety shows, radio, and YouTube. They will continue their intense promotional activities with the double title tracks ‘DRIP’, ‘CLIK CLAK’, and the follow-up song ‘Love In My Heart’, and from next year, they will expand their global reach with their debut world tour.
