Living Legends 2NE1 Dominates Gayo Daejeon with a Stellar Comeback
After a nine-year hiatus, 2NE1 reclaimed their throne as the iconic K-pop girl group with a dominating presence on this year’s broadcast network year-end stage.
On December 25, at the Incheon Inspire Arena, 2NE1 performed at the ‘2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon’ (hereafter ‘Gayo Daejeon’). They burst onto the stage with the monumental opening VCR followed by one of their signature songs, ‘Come Back Home,’ powerfully kicking off the event and swiftly capturing the mood.
From their debut song ‘Fire’ to hits like ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘UGLY’, and ‘I Am the Best’, a relentless medley of 2NE1’s chart-toppers filled the air. With 15 years of polished live performance skills and explosive charisma, they took full control of the stage, delivering thrilling chills to the audience on-site and viewers at home.
It was a moment where the true power of music, transcending eras, was wholeheartedly felt. Despite the songs being over a decade old, the audience’s group sing-along transformed the venue into a festival scene, enhanced by the powerful aura of all four members on stage, evoking nostalgia for their peak as the leading girl-crush group of K-pop.
This year, marking their 15th debut anniversary with a complete return and hosting the Asia tour, 2NE1 has once again become the talk of the town with this ‘Gayo Daejeon’ performance. Music fans commented, “The stage clearly showed why they are still considered living ‘legends’,” and “It was like riding a time machine back to those days,” continuing with high praise.
Meanwhile, 2NE1 is currently meeting fans worldwide through their ‘2024-25 2NE1 ASIA TOUR [WELCOME BACK]’. With most shows sold out, demonstrating their strong ticket power, they will continue to bring their heat to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh City, and Macao, following successful shows in Manila, Jakarta, Kobe, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore.
