BABYMONSTER Unveils Behind-the-Scenes of ‘DRIP’ Recording…First Reveal of G-DRAGON’s Guide Track
On January 9th, the group BABYMONSTER shared a glimpse behind the scenes of their recording for their first full album, “DRIP.”
On the same day, YG Entertainment expressed, “As ‘DRIP’ is a track of a new mood unlike anything previously presented, the members meticulously monitored and repeatedly recorded every detail such as vocal tone, diction, and emotional expression, fueling their passion for the project.”
RAMI adeptly handled numerous directions from the producers in one go, and CHIQUITA was methodically given feedback and demonstrations, stepping up to direct herself.
The session also marked the first unveiling of the guide track version by BIGBANG member G-DRAGON, whose involvement in composing “DRIP” had previously made headlines. The track starts with an intense rap that immediately captures the ear, with ASA pondering extensively to maximize its allure.
With a well-timed burst of high tones, ASA brought her own stylish flair to the fore and creatively crafted the signature sound for the intro.
A highlight for music fans was AHYEON’s three-tiered high notes, which came to life under the direction of YG EXECUTIVE PRODUCER YANG HYUN SUK. It was Yang’s on-the-spot suggestion to elevate a two-tiered high note part to three tiers.
YG commented, “The ‘G#’ is a high vocal range challenging even for skilled pop vocalists to approach, requiring genuine skill to perform the three-tiered high notes in one breath.”
However, AHYEON managed to nail it in one try, astonishing YANG HYUN SUK and all the staff present in the recording studio.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is set to launch their very first world tour with the ‘BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR IN SEOUL’ at the KSPO DOME in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on January 25th and 26th, marking the start of their global tour.
