BABYMONSTER Switches Cover Songs on World Tour – From 2NE1 to BLACKPINK, What’s the Reason?
BABYMONSTER is turning up the heat on their debut world tour with a brand-new BLACKPINK cover stage.
On the 12th, YG Entertainment announced that BABYMONSTER will perform BLACKPINK’s hit songs “Kill This Love” and “As If It’s Your Last” live on stage, starting with the “2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR IN SINGAPORE” set to take place on the 17th.
This marks a full switch from their previous performances of 2NE1’s “Clap Your Hands” and “Go Away” to BLACKPINK’s iconic tracks. According to YG, the new cover stage was specially prepared to bring fresh excitement to fans joining them on tour, especially after the 2NE1 covers went viral online and received overwhelming praise.
Notably, this will be BABYMONSTER’s first time showcasing BLACKPINK songs live on stage, heightening anticipation among fans. Already praised for their exceptional vocals and stage presence, the group is steadily gaining popularity and continuing the powerful legacy of YG girl groups, handed down from 2NE1 and BLACKPINK.
Ahead of the highly anticipated stage that will be a major highlight of their Asia tour, BABYMONSTER shared, “It’s our first time performing on stage in front of fans with music by BLACKPINK, our role models, so we’re incredibly excited and nervous. We’ll pour our hearts into this performance with respect and gratitude, and we hope you enjoy it.”
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is expanding their global reach with their first world tour just one year after debut. For their North American tour, they’ve secured arena-level venues in Newark and LA, each accommodating over 10,000 attendees. In Japan, the group has steadily increased concert scale, drawing a total of 150,000 fans and setting the record for “the shortest time for a K-pop girl group to attract the largest audience.”
Now past the halfway point of the tour, BABYMONSTER continues to travel across Asia, hitting cities like Singapore, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei. Later this year, they’ll launch a second North American tour with stops in Toronto, Rosemont, Atlanta, Fort Worth, Oakland, and Seattle.
