“A Work of Conviction”…KANG SEUNG YOON Showcases Growth with First Solo Full-Length Album in Five Years

WINNER’s KANG SEUNG YOON unveils his long-awaited second solo full-length album ‘PAGE 2’ today (Nov 3) at 6 p.m. The release marks his first solo studio album in nearly five years, with the artist taking full creative control, from songwriting and producing to visual and promotional direction, demonstrating his evolution as a musician.

YG Entertainment described the album as “structured like a collection of short stories.” Its musical spectrum spans dance, R&B, rock, and ballad, while the title track ‘ME (美)’ combines synth-pop and rock for an upbeat, rhythmic sound. The sampler and teaser videos previewed its dynamic drum beats and free-spirited visuals, evoking the fleeting emotions of youth. The recurring phrase “美 and shake that beauty” serves as the album’s core motif, encapsulating its central theme.

KANG SEUNG YOON defined the keyword of this album as “multi-faceted.” The use of origami as a visual metaphor aligns with that idea, just as folded paper reveals new surfaces, each of the 13 tracks represents a different emotion, story, and persona. Whereas his first solo album ‘PAGE’ was built from autobiographical narratives, ‘PAGE 2’ introduces songs born from imagination. Inspirations range from a fusion historical drama scene (‘FOLLOW’) to a fictional reality show about ex-lovers (‘LIE TO ME’), a fan song dedicated to INNER CIRCLE (‘PICK YOU UP’ feat. EUN JIWON), and ‘S.A.D,’ written from the perspective of his pet dog Thor.

Rather than arranging tracks by BPM or genre, the album flows along a “stream of emotions”, from the beginning of love to its downfall and eventual acceptance. Track 9, ‘HOMELESS,’ first performed at WINNER’s Seoul concert, reflects his self-awareness as a solo artist through the lyric “a solist left alone without the stage or audience.” The final track, ‘SKY ROOF,’ originated as an improvised background music piece for his photo exhibition, evolving into a closing emotional chapter, a bonus track dedicated to fans.

KANG SEUNG YOON emphasized his renewed confidence, saying, “In the past, I used to hesitate between multiple options, but now I make decisions with certainty.” He added, “I know fans have been waiting for a long time, so I want this promotion period to feel like a gift. I’ll repay their patience with good music and various activities.” He also expressed his wish to hold a solo tour, even if on a modest scale, to meet fans across Korea and abroad.
